Scripture Reading: Proverbs 10:18-21
18Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips
and spreads slander is a fool.

19Sin is not ended by multiplying words,
but the prudent hold their tongues.

20The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,
but the heart of the wicked is of little value.

21The lips of the righteous nourish many,
but fools die for lack of sense.

Questions for Reflection:

The book of Proverbs is loaded with short, powerful insights into how we should live. Solomon, the author of the book, was considered to be the wisest man ever to live. In this short passage, Solomon shares four powerful principles for how we should communicate with others. Summarize each of the proverbs in your own words. Which of these four lessons do you most need to learn? How can you put these principles into practice in your life today? What do you think would be the outcome if you applied these verses in your life? Spend time today in prayer asking God to help you apply His word to your life. Ask for the patience needed to follow through with what He has called you to do.
