Scripture Reading: 3 John 12-13
12Demetrius is well spoken of by everyone—and even by the truth itself. We also speak well of him, and you know that our testimony is true.
13I have much to write you, but I do not want to do so with pen and ink. 14I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face.
Peace to you. The friends here send their greetings. Greet the friends there by name.

Questions for Reflection:
John is commending Demetrius to Gaius. His hope is that Gaius would receive Demetrius with the same hospitality that he had received the earlier missionaries. Demetrius had lived his life in such a way before John that John was comfortable recommending him to Gaius. What do you look for in a person that you respect and would endorse? Do you demonstrate those same characteristics in your own life?
John ends this letter in nearly the exact same way that he ended 2 John. John wanted to see Gaius in person, but until he did this letter and Demetrius would have to suffice. John also sent greetings from the community that he was with to Gaius’ community.
We wrap up our study of John’s letters today. As you reflect over the past eight weeks, what have you learned about God from this study? What have you learned about following God from John’s letters? Those two questions are great questions to keep in mind each time you read Scripture.
