Because 50 Day 38

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 2:9-10
9But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Today’s Prayer:
God, allow us to see the opportunities to be the most relevant people in the lives of those around bringing the hope of Jesus Christ to them.
Going Deeper:
Do you remember being on the playground when they would choose teams for whatever game they were playing at recess? Were you ever chosen toward the beginning? How did that make you feel? Was there ever a time when you were one of the last kids picked? What did you feel like in that moment?
Peter, in writing to the church, says that we are a chosen people. God has chosen you. He has set you apart. He has picked you. You are his “special possession.” When you understand who you are in Christ, it should help you have confidence even in the midst of difficulties like Mark described in the video above.
Not only does the Holy Spirit’s power impact how you see your circumstances and identity, it changes how you view others. God works in your life so that you can help bring the hope of Jesus Christ to others. Who has God placed in your life that you can share his light and mercy to? What opportunities is God giving you to share the hope you have?
