Scripture Reading: Proverbs 22:6
6 Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it. (ESV)

6Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it. (NLT)

6Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (NIV)

Questions for Reflection:

There is a responsibility that we have as parents to start our children off on the right foot. We will not be able to make every choice for them along the way, but we can give them a biblical worldview that helps them make those choices. What is the admonition that Solomon gives parents in the verse above? According to Solomom, what is the result of following that direction? If you’re a parent, how can you direct or train your child onto the right path?

One of things research has taught is that children need five adults (aside from their parents) who are investing in their spiritual development. If you’re not a parent, how can you play a part in the Christian community in helping develop the next generation?
