After Seeing All of That, I Say “God is holy”

Dan Sullivan   -

6 and before the throne there was something like a sea of glass, like crystal; and in the center and around the throne, four living creatures full of eyes in front and behind.7 The first creature was like a lion, and the second creature like a calf, and the third creature had a face like that of a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle.8 And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.” Revelation 4:6–8 NASB Read More

To say the scene in Heaven around the throne of God is amazing is an understatement. A sea like clear glass, creatures of all different shapes covered with eyes, and 24 elders all around with crowns, it is quite a scene. These creatures with eyes all over them can see in every direction all over the world. Nothing is out of view for them.
We can control a lot of what we see. If you don’t look up or watch any news, you only get a glimpse of what someone shares on Facebook or talks about in the office. If you stay off of Facebook and sit facing away from the TV at the Donut Bank, you might even not know who Jimmy Kimmel is or that there were tornadoes in Oklahoma. Many times it feels like we can’t control what kinds of images and media we consume, but we can control a lot more than we think.
Everything we see has an effect on us. Everybody knows that paranoid person that watches Fox news for 4 hours every day. Everybody has a friend that is living out Facebook drama All. The. Time. (SMH OMG!) The things we look at with our two eyes, that only face in one direction, are continually sowing seeds in our moods-spirit-psyche-whatever that all comes back and bears some kind of fruit later.
What if your whole body was covered with eyes to see everything in the whole world all the time without resting? Every creature in Heaven is free to make a choice about what they do. These four creatures, in the presence of God, even though they can see all of the heartbreak and horror of the world, say only one thing over and over.

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.”

These things can’t control what they see. Their only response: God is holy.
They cannot look away from the tragedies and victories happening in the world. Their only response: God is holy.
They don’t act these things or provide food for themselves if they even needed it. Their only response: God is holy.
They are not overwhelmed by the events in the world, even though they have seen it all ever since Adam met Eve in the Garden. Their only response: God is holy.
Day and night, without ceasing, they have the freedom to say whatever they want and respond however they want. Just like us.
